Congrats to the Davis Cup for a successful return to the court. After a one week hiatus, members didn’t let a little rain stop them from storming the hardwood St Rose of Lima.
Team of the Night goes to none other than Eddy “Afterburners” Avetisyan, ‘Reverse’ Rob’s Region Hodax, Tin ”Ray Allen” Hung, Milhouse van Houten, and John “JR Swish-a-licious” Shotliff, who started the night off with 5 consecutive wins. JR alternated working a nice two man game with Milhouse and Eddy, as the entire team pummeled the opposition with swift passing and solid shot making from deep.
Player of the Night goes to Tin Hung for mounting a courageous comeback. Down 8-5, Eddy Avetisyan channeled his inner Nostradamus. ‘We’re gonna need two miraculous threes, boys.’ Tin responded, first by making a fall away three from the deep corner. After the opposing team missed all their chances to seal the deal, Tin completed the comeback with a back breaking three.
The ‘Where did that come from???’ Play of the Night goes to Rob Hodax. Rob, after incinerating the opposition from deep, decided to keep the defenses reeling by driving in, even making a reverse without the aid of the backboard.
Russell Tran nabbed a few nice assists to Iron Mike. Unfortunately, he didn’t get any with his other teammates. Move that ball around, Russell!
In fantasy football OTA news…
Pat Mak honed his free safety skills, picking off several long bombs, and dancing on the out of bounds lines to save the ball for his team.
Kicker Craig Davis honed his between-the-uprights skills, passing the ball directly between the out stretched arms of two teammates.
Players have resorted to psychological warfare when free throws are being shot, getting in each other’s faces and razzing each other. Is this how far we’ve fallen?
Rounding out the usual league business…
– Ron made a coast to coast scoop layup, which was sandwiched between ill advised fast break 3 pt shots…
– Hun made some deep threes but had a few costly turnovers trying to be too fancy
– Yours Truly retained his MVP trophy but got a little swat happy with opposing player’s hands
– JR and Milhouse shot extremely well from the baseline
– Commissioner Davis banked in a three
– Everyone intentionally kicked the ball!
And finally, the “Yes this was intentional” Play of the Night goes like… A deep pass by Hun Yi to Yours Truly who pitched it back to Craig Davis who launched an over the shoulder back to the basket shot to intentionally get his own rebound to kick it to Umer for the game ending three to end the night.
